Note To Self: Be Positive

Be Positive. What does it exactly mean? In simplest terms, it’s actually about filtering out negative thoughts. These negative thoughts are actually disruptive and oftentimes destructive to oneself.  Too much negativity is not good since it enables a person to lose sight of his perspectives in life.

But why is it that no matter how badly we want to filter it out, it always makes its way back to our thoughts? For me, I think it’s all about the “chatter box” if I may borrow the phrase from Dr. Susan Jeffers, an American psychologist whom I never got the chance to meet. It’s actually the dreadful voice within oneself that keeps on telling us things that’s actually contradictory to what we really want to happen with our life. Oftentimes, all it does is to keep on embedding in our minds all the negativities in life.

If you allow yourself to get crushed by all of those negative thoughts then it could lead to depression. And it’s actually very dangerous because if a person is not careful then he could actually end up 6 feet under or in short commit suicide. We don’t want that don’t we? So what do we have to do to eliminate it? For me, I just want to make it simple. Practice.  Practice ignoring your “chatter box”. You can actually do it, you can actually train your mind just like the way you train your muscles. Replace all the negative thoughts with positive thoughts everytime you are about to hear your “chatter box” trying to whisper in your consciousness.

Believe me when I tell you that you have a lot more positive things happening in your life than you know of. You just have to look at the brighter side of life and not all the doom and gloom you think it offers you. Do this and you’ll instantly feel relaxed and at ease no matter where you are in life. Practice deep breathing, pause, and relax. Make it a habit and in no time you’ll be able to break free from the shackles of your self-inflicting negativity. May you have a blessed life.
